Iwank Negi

As an Investment and Impact Management Analyst at Synapses, Iwank work focuses on the evaluation of the environmental consequences of investments. His commitment is towards the development of tools that can be used to monitor and report on the environmental impacts of early-stage start-ups, facilitating an informed decision-making culture within them. Iwank is convinced that the pathway to achieving a world that aligns with the 1.5-degree target hinges on innovation within traditional or "hard-to-abate" sectors, notorious for their substantial greenhouse gas emissions. This belief underscores his appreciation for Synapses' approach to backing startups that prioritize innovation in these challenging sectors.

Originating from the beautiful yet climate-vulnerable region of Himachal, he has witnessed the direct effects of climate-induced disasters first-hand. These experiences have profoundly shaped his understanding of the urgent need for actionable solutions to combat climate change. Such realization steered his career towards the environmental sector, where he aims to contribute significantly to our planet's health and resilience.

Iwank holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, and a Master's degree in Disaster Management from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Additionally, Iwank is a Climate change Fellow from Terra. Do and holds a diploma in Urban Studies from the Indian Institute for Human Settlements.

Before joining Synapses, Iwank collaborated closely with Carbon Masters, a portfolio startup, where he played a pivotal role in streamlining and digitizing their operations while spearheading the development of their customer-facing app.

Iwank loves to skateboard, go rock climbing, and sway people with his impeccable vocal skills in karaoke.
